Having twin babies is hard enough. Now image those two twins were born with clubfoot. That’s what Bene was dealing with when her two sons David and Danny were both born with this common birth defect in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Imagine the challenge of caring for two twins in casts. Bene didn’t even have the support of her husband who left because of David and Danny. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Bene was often ridiculed by other women and accused of being unfaithful to her husband.
Thankfully, Bene attends church and was comforted and encouraged by members of her congregation. Healing for her twins came when she learned about clubfoot through awareness efforts held at her church.
Bene’s parent advisor also played a critical role in supporting this mom. The parent advisor helped this scared mom navigate her path through medical and social challenges she faced.
There might even be a happy ending for this family on the horizon. After learning about his son’s treatment, Bene’s husband has started communicating again with her and they have begun discussions about his return to the family.
