Tom Free

Tom Free is a graduate of Presbyterian College, class of ’91, where he received a B.S. in sociology and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army.  He went on to earn a degree in social science education from the University of South Florida in 1995. He also received EMT and firefighter certification in 2005  and paramedic certification in 2007, all from St. Petersburg College.

Free currently serves as a board member for five charities in addition to Hope Walks. He helps the Make a Difference Fishing Tournaments continue its mission of providing fishing experiences for physically and mentally challenged children and adults. As a member of Thornwell’s Board of Trustees, Free helps continue the nonprofit’s mission of serving children and families in need.  He also serves on the board of Ruth Eckerd Hall, a performing arts center located in Clearwater, Florida.  Additionally, Tom serves on Presbyterian College, board of trustees, and Julie Weintraub’s Hands Across the Bay. 

Free retired from the Safety Harbor Fire Department in 2016.
