COVID and Clubfoot – Stories from the front lines
Yemawayesh has been serving as the parent advisor at the Jimma Clubfoot Clinic in Ethiopia since April 2016. When not at the clinic, she works as a nurse ASN and part-time for her church. This mother of three kids has always been very dedicated to her responsibilities, but the global pandemic has intensified her passion for what she does for families dealing with clubfoot.
She has sacrificed a lot to continue serving these families. During travel restrictions, she often was forced to walk long distances to get to the clinic. Yamawayesh also was involved in an accident when traveling to one of the clinics in a Bajaje (three-wheeled mini car).
?COVID-19 has given us an opportunity to share the good news,? she said. ?Many people have questions about what is going on, and I have used this opportunity for teaching the gospel.??
Yamawayesh has been a light in the lives of these families during COVID-19. Her faith and hard work has comforted many parents who have been nervous about the outbreak and what it might mean for their children?s treatment.
