Clarens in Haiti
When you consider all of the turmoil going on in Haiti right now, it is amazing to consider the bravery of these families to get to a clubfoot clinic. But Markendy and Guerline would stop at nothing to get this treatment for their son Clarens.
Political turmoil and gang violence make traveling dangerous for all Haitians. In addition, Markendy, Clarens dad, has little money and struggled with paying for good transportation to and from the clinic for him and his son. Many times it is the mom who comes to all the appointments with a child, but Markendy has been faithful to keeping appointments and usually is the one to bring Clarens.
The free treatment provided by generous donors is a big blessing to this family and has kept them coming back. With each new cast, they saw a difference in Clarens feet. Now that he can walk, they can hardly believe it. They thought he would never walk.
Spreading the word that clubfoot is treatable is now a personal mission for this young family.
